Digital PIN door opening in hotels: partnership between CODE2ORDER and Schulte-Schlagbaum AG

The collaboration of straiv by CODE2ORDER and Schulte-Schlagbaum AG with the access solution SAG Smart Access enables automated PIN Door Opening in the hotel – with the hotel guests’ own smartphone, without app download. An important building block for the holistic digital guest journey, contactless service and smart room control in the hotel.

Automated processes in the hotel with Digital PIN Door opening

Door opening with SAG Smart Access & straiv by CODE2ORDER works via a PIN that hotel guests can access after check-in. The door opening PIN is sent to the guests’ smartphone via straiv by CODE2ORDER. This unique solution features an intelligent PIN code that can be assigned as a temporary guest code for the precise period of arrival or stay. The complete check-in process, including Digital PIN Door Opening, can be handled via the digital companion for hotel guests (Progressive Web App*) from straiv by CODE2ORDER using your own smartphone. No app download or login required. At the same time, SAG’s Smart Access solutions enable demand-driven intelligent building management. This includes, among other things, individual room control of temperature and lighting scenarios according to the needs of the guest.

The digital solutions in use at ZÄHLWERK Apartments in Pfaffenhofen

At Zählwerk Hotel & Serviced Apartments in Pfaffenhofen, the solutions from straiv by CODE2ORDER and SAG have been in use since November last year for contactless Check-in on the user’s own smartphone, including PIN code dispatch for door opening.

“Our goal is to provide our guests with a digital companion that can be used to provide all the information and services they require for the entire guest journey (before, during and after their stay). This includes the possibility of mobile door opening, as well as a mobile check-in. In addition, we have reduced our staffing at the front desk to a minimum, this is so only possible with the help of digital solutions that are well coordinated. However, the biggest gain of the solution in the face of the current situation is that contacts can be reduced to a minimum without losing service. At Zählwerk Apartments, every guest can check in on their smartphone, receive a PIN code for their apartment, and can easily check themselves out on the day of departure. The invoice is of course sent automatically by mail. The cooperation with straiv by CODE2ORDER and SAG convinced us, because the two partners work very well together and the solutions work perfectly together,” says Christoph Habermann, Operations Manager, Zählwerk Apartments.

Dirk Heumann, Head of Sales for locking systems for doors and furniture at SAG, also emphasizes the synergy effects of this solution: “In the Zählwerk Apartments project in Pfaffenhofen, we have worked, for the first time, in partnership with the companies Schulte-Schlagbaum AG for electronic locking systems, straiv by CODE2ORDER for the Digital Guest Journey and apaleo as PMS enables comprehensive process automation and thus simplifies work processes in order to achieve the target of reducing personnel workload. So we’re liberating resources for staff to take care of the guest’s well-being.

Alexander Haußmann and Patrick Luik, founder and managing director of straiv by CODE2ORDER, about the cooperation

“The goal is to be able to map a fully automated process for check-in and check-out. Only when all the steps involved are digitalized and connected to each other a hotel can exploit the full potential of digitalization. That means saving costs and time, which can then be reinvested in the important things, such as the personal conversation, the welcoming and the first contact with the guests. We are particularly pleased about the partnership with SAG. Together we will continue to automate processes and create added value for hotels and hotel guests,” said Alexander Haußmann, founder and managing director of straiv by CODE2ORDER GmbH.

“The technical implementation of our two teams was exemplary. In terms of both speed and quality, it is an impressive achievement. With the integration of SAG’s PIN solution, we now cover another important building block in the digital guest journey. Here, too, there is no need to install an app. We are proud to work with such a renowned partner and look forward to the next joint technical developments,” said Patrick Luik, founder and CEO of straiv by CODE2ORDER GmbH.
